Challenges:
Plans for a potential health facility in West Hull are being discussed.
It comes as more pressure is placed on GP practices with an ageing population and increasing demand.
There are less GPs in Hull than the national average and some doctors still work from converted houses.
Springhead Medical Centre in Willerby Road has a growing practice population and ideas are being explored to create new fit-for-purpose facilities to ensure patients are treated in the best environment for years to come.
Solutions:
Citycare is working with NHS Hull Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), Springhead Medical Practice and Springhead Patient Participation Group (PPG) to explore options for developing a primary care base to include GP and community services all under one roof.
The Hull Trinity House Charity grounds previously used as school playing fields have been out of use for several years and there is a long term plan to redevelop the site and put the land back into use.
Hull Trinity House Charity and Citycare have been working together to bring forward a co-ordinated development for housing and a new primary care health centre to accommodate the Springhead Medical Practice (now part of the Modality Partnership), community services and a pharmacy.
Public consultations were held for new development plans on Calvert Lane. Feedback from these events and consultation with statutory consultees will help shape the detailed proposals for this development.
The outline planning application was approved in January 2018 and detailed designs will now be developed for the health facility alongside GP’s to show the community before final details can be approved by planners.
