This year’s prestigious Operational PPP Awards shortlist has been announced, and we’re delighted that our work alongside Sewell Group has been recognised.
The shortlisted project focuses on our health centres, which have been undergoing transformative works to become more sustainable, as part of the NHS’s drive to net zero.
The award, Team of the Year, recognises the work between Citycare and Sewell Group to replace almost 7,000 light fittings with low-energy LED bulbs, dramatically reducing energy usage and costs, and lessening the centres’ carbon footprints. The project covered 13 health centres built under the LIFT programme across Hull, meaning over 50% of the LIFT buildings in the UK that are fully LED lit, are based in Hull.
The ambitious decarbonisation project brought together experts from Sewell Group and Citycare to achieve the game-changing outcome, which has seen a 25% saving in energy use across the 13 buildings, an annual reduction of 113 tonnes of CO2 and at today’s energy rates, will save the NHS £1.4m in energy bills across the lifetime of the health centres.
We’ve also recently fitted 166 photovoltaic panels to Marfleet Health Centre, which will produce 62% of the health centre’s energy needs. Over a year, they’ll save the NHS £9,500 on their energy bills, and save 14 tonnes of CO2. We’re now rolling out panels to two more of Hull’s health centres, ensuring our health centres become as sustainable and energy-efficient as possible.
