Successful first year for West Hull Health Hub

The award-winning West Hull Health Hub – hailed as a beacon of future primary care services and a ‘game changer’ for its tenants – is celebrating its one-year anniversary.

The £8million state-of-the-art health hub has seen thousands of Modality Partnership (Hull) patients pass through its doors since it opened in November 2021. It has integrated crucial services under one roof within the community with the aim of limiting the need for hospital admission or care.

Dr Bushra Ali, GP and Partner at Modality Partnership, and member of the NHS Hull Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) Board said;

“The West Hull Health Hub has made a huge difference, and these new facilities have meant that we have been able to have as many clinicians seeing and contacting patients as we’d like, without being constrained by too few rooms.

“It’s been wonderful to be able to deliver the kind of primary care we’ve all wanted to provide without worrying that it’s not possible, and patients have had easier access to a range of appointments and services.”

The West Hull Health Hub is the first new primary care health centre in the country to be delivered under a new third-party developer model by Citycare and investor and public sector partners, Community Health Partnerships. The project was completed on behalf of the NHS in conjunction with NHS CCG and has been recognised in two awards since opening last year.

Tim Wigglesworth, CEO of Citycare added;

“This is a huge milestone for the West Hull Health Hub, and whilst I’ve always believed in the real benefits that the facility brings to the community and the people working hard to provide health and care services to them, it has been amazing to have had this endorsed externally at the Building Better Healthcare Awards and Insider Media Yorkshire Property Industry Awards.

“As always, projects like this are a team effort and the recognition we have received has acknowledged just how well public and private partners came together to realise the future vision for health estates transformations across the city, as well as showcasing how the West Hull Health Hub sets a precedent for how integrated community care hubs should look.

“It has been amazing to see the difference it has made to both staff and patients, and we look forward to celebrating its success for many years to come.”
